Overview
NEXT BASKET is a white-label SaaS e-commerce platform enabling businesses to launch fully branded online stores across five countries. From March 2024 to May 2026, I worked on the platform first as a Senior PHP Engineer and then as a hands-on Technical Lead, taking responsibility for core engineering work, technical direction, architectural consistency, and cross-team delivery.
The platform supports multi-tenant operations at scale — separate storefronts, localised pricing, and country-specific compliance requirements — all running on a shared Symfony/PHP backend with Next.js frontends.

My Role
As Senior PHP Engineer and Technical Lead, I remained heavily involved in core development while leading an 11-engineer distributed team across frontend (Next.js/React) and backend (Symfony/PHP). I implemented and refactored production code, set technical standards, owned the code review process, and drove architectural decisions across both layers.
- Quality gate — Enforced TDD and DDD standards in every PR; blocked work that fell short of architectural consistency, ensuring tests covered real behaviour rather than line counts.
- Core engineering — Continued implementing production features, resolving complex defects, and refactoring critical Symfony/PHP modules rather than moving into a management-only role.
- Architectural improvements — Refactored critical Symfony modules, closed recurring edge cases, and raised overall code health through hands-on implementation and review.
- Delivery coordination — Made scope, technical decisions, and implementation risks visible across a distributed team.
- Cross-team technical leadership — Led the team, answered technical clarifications, and coordinated delivery with QA and SRE when broader technical ownership was required.
