Privacy Policy

Sunwise is a sunlight-coaching application provided by Moses Adewale (MJ2DA). This policy explains how Sunwise accesses, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the mobile application.

Information stored on your device

Sunwise stores the following information locally on your device:

• Your sunlight profile, including skin-sensitivity selection, exposed-skin estimate, daily goal, and typical availability.
• Your location preference and, if you choose a fixed location, its label and coordinates.
• Sunlight session history, including session times, duration, entry type, and any optional note you enter.
• Reminder preferences, education-card state, and cached weather forecasts.

Sunwise does not require an account. This version does not include advertising or analytics, and the developer does not receive your locally stored profile or session history.

Location and forecast requests

If you select device location, Sunwise requests location permission and reads your location while you use the app. Sunwise does not continuously track your location in the background. You may instead save a fixed location or disable device-location use.

To retrieve weather and UV forecasts, Sunwise sends geographic coordinates to the Open-Meteo API over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Open-Meteo may process request information such as IP addresses, requested URLs, and coordinates in its server logs. Open-Meteo states that free-API log files are deleted after 90 days. Review Open-Meteo's Terms and Privacy policy for its current practices.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, Sunwise schedules forecast-based notifications on your device. Notification permission is controlled through your operating-system settings. Sunwise does not use a remote notification server in this version.

Data export and sharing

Sunwise does not sell your information. It does not share your profile or session history with advertisers or data brokers. Coordinates and ordinary network request information are processed by Open-Meteo only to provide and operate the forecast service.

You can create a JSON export in Settings. The export remains under your control. If you copy it to the clipboard or share it using another app, the receiving app or service handles that copy under its own privacy practices.

Retention and deletion

Profile, preference, education, and session information remains on your device until you erase it or remove the app. Your operating system may include app data in device or cloud backups according to your backup settings. Cached forecasts are replaced as new forecasts are stored. You can use Settings > Erase all data to delete Sunwise's local profile, saved location, preferences, sessions, cached forecasts, and scheduled reminders. This action cannot be undone.

Security

Sunwise limits data collection and keeps personal app data on your device. Forecast requests use HTTPS. However, no electronic storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Device access, operating-system backups, clipboard contents, and exports are also subject to the security controls you configure.

Children's privacy

Sunwise is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided information should contact us.

Health information disclaimer

Sunwise provides educational sunlight guidance and is not a medical service. It does not diagnose Vitamin D deficiency or replace advice from a qualified health professional.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Sunwise features or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when an update is published.
