NEXT BASKET — Multi-Country SaaS E-Commerce Platform
White-label SaaS e-commerce platform enabling businesses to launch fully branded online stores across 5 countries. Technical Lead on an 11-engineer distributed team.
Overview
NEXT BASKET is a white-label SaaS e-commerce platform enabling businesses to launch fully branded online stores across five countries. As Technical Lead, I inherited the platform mid-flight and took ownership of its technical direction, architectural consistency, and cross-team delivery.
The platform supports multi-tenant operations at scale — separate storefronts, localised pricing, and country-specific compliance requirements — all running on a shared Symfony/PHP backend with Next.js frontends.
My Role
Leading an 11-engineer distributed team across frontend (Next.js/React) and backend (Symfony/PHP). I set the technical standards, own the code review process, and drive architectural decisions across both layers.
- Quality gate — Enforced TDD and DDD standards in every PR; blocked work that fell short of architectural consistency, ensuring tests covered real behaviour rather than line counts.
- Architectural improvements — Refactored critical Symfony modules, closed recurring edge cases, and raised overall code health through hands-on implementation and review.
- On-time delivery — Maintained a 95% milestone delivery rate through structured sprint planning and clear technical direction across a distributed team.
- Interim CTO — Stepped in to own technical direction, cross-team coordination, and stakeholder communication when required.
Key Integrations
AliExpress Dropshipping API
Took technical ownership of an in-flight integration and drove it to successful delivery — supporting automated product and order synchronisation workflows across multi-country SaaS deployments. Coordinated implementation across frontend (Next.js) and backend (Symfony/PHP).
Results
- 30% reduction in QA bug reports through TDD/DDD enforcement
- 20% cut in senior engineer escalations after resolving Symfony queue processing bottlenecks
- 95% on-time milestone delivery rate across a distributed, cross-functional engineering team
